South Nyanza Water Services Ltd, Homa Bay County
The installation and commissioning of a 70 kW Solar PV powered water pumping system in Homa bay County, Kenya.

Climate change forces people to depend on tapped water. In Kenya, the greatest challenge faced by water companies is the cost of electricity for pumping water. The aim of this project is to enhance access to piped water by providing free energy for pumping water by generating electricity using renewable energy sources.

Olishoibor Energy Centre
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with the support from the Australian Agency for International Development (AUSAID) has setup a renewable energy based, Energy Center, in Oloshoibor, Ngong.

This is an off-the-grid energy facility generating electricity from a hybrid system of Solar and Wind power. The facility also has a Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) generator to provide power for small industrial activities with intermittent higher power demand. Olishoibor where the centre was installed is located in Ngong area, 40km southwest of Nairobi City Center. The general population in the area is estimated to be about 8000, and is dominated by the pastoralist Maasai community.

Despite it being relatively close to the capital city of Nairobi, this community is not a target for grid extension due to its lack of sparse household location and the current low consumption levels. Prior to the installation of the Ngong Energy Centre, the locals have had to travel long distances to do anything that requires electricity. Now with the energy centre they can now enjoy a number of electricity related services locally.

Electrical Works for the Kakuma and Dadaab Energy centers
Kijani Technologies Limited in partnership with IOM set up energy centers in Kakuma & Dadaab refugee camps to provide power for small business and home use.
